Mr David Beaumont is one of two Otolaryngologists-Head and Neck Surgeons (ENT Surgeons) working at the Medical Specialist Group.

He was born in England but grew up in Australia and trained as a doctor and ENT Consultant in Adelaide before undertaking a period of additional specialist training in Oxford and Amsterdam to further particular interests in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Otology (Complex Surgery of the Ear).

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is on both the Australasian and European Specialist Medical Registers. He is a member of the British Association of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the Australian Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the British Rhinological Society.

Prior to January 1998, when Mr Beaumont joined the Medical Specialist Group, only a limited range of ENT surgery could be provided at a local level and all complex ENT problems had to be referred to the mainland.

His appointment means that all but the rarest and most major operations can now be performed in Guernsey. This includes major reconstructive surgery of the ear such as procedures to restore hearing (eg. Stapedectomy and Ossiculoplasty), complex sinus surgery utilising new endoscopic techniques and equipment, Cosmetic Surgery (eg.Rhinoplasty and correction of prominent ears) and surgery for both benign and malignant tumours of the Head and Neck.

He maintains a close working relationship with Cancer Specialists in Southampton, Portsmouth and London to coordinate the management of patients with tumours of the Head and Neck and this arrangement has enabled rapid and high quality treatment to be provided both at a local and regional level.

He has an English wife and two children, one born in Australia and the other in England. His principal interest away from work is his young family but sport, fine wines, and travel also feature prominently (though not all at the same time!)
