Dr Nigel Byrom FRCPConsultant PhysicianGMC number - 1632181 Dr Byrom has been a Consultant Physician at the Medical Specialist Group since its inception in 1992. He was born in Leicester and was educated at Wyggeston Boy's Grammar School, before training as an undergraduate at Guy's Hospital in London where he qualified as a Doctor in 1973. He worked in London, Leicester and Nottingham where he was Senior Registrar in Nephrology and General Medicine and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1977 and subsequently a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1996. Dr Byrom came to Guernsey as a Consultant Physician in 1982 , and has been instrumental in the expansion of Medical and Renal services in Guernsey. He has also been closely involved in the wider development of local health services having been Chairman of the Medical Staff Committee, medical representative on the Hospital Management Team, and Chairman of the Board of Health's Medical Advisory Committee. He was Chairman of the MSG from January 2001 until December 2003. His special medical interests include Nephrology (Renal Medicine), Hypertension, Rheumatology and Respiratory Medicine. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians, is on the Specialist Register of the GMC. His major interests outside work are cycling, photography, boats and fishing. |
