Dr Calum McClymont has been a Consultant in Anaesthesia to the Medical Specialist Group since 1996 and is also the island's Pain Specialist and Specialist Advisor to Le Bourgs Hospice.

He was born in Hawick, Scotland, was educated at St. Joseph's College and undertook his undergraduate medical training at Aberdeen University, graduating in 1982.

In 1984 he commenced training in Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Pain Management in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and this included a period of training in Christchurch, New Zealand. He became a Fellow of The Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1989. Prior to coming to Guernsey in 1996, he worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist in Melbourne, Australia and Dumfries in Scotland and is also a Fellow of The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetics.

He is a Member of the British Association of Anaesthetists and is on the Specialist Register of the GMC.

Dr McClymont is involved in all aspects of the delivery of anaesthesia in Guernsey and additionally runs the island's Chronic Pain Service. The latter service includes special clinics dedicated to the management of patients with long standing musculo-skeletal and neuropathic pain as well patients with cancer. A significant part of his work involves advising and assisting staff at Le Bourgs Hospice with the management of patients with terminal cancer. He is also one of two anaesthetists dedicated to the care of patients in Intensive Care at The Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

He is a motorbike, golfing and Karate enthusiast and has a special interest in fine wines.
