Miss Heather Reed MB BCh FRCOG

Miss Heather Reed is one of four Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at the Medical Specialist Group.

She was born in Cornwall but grew up in South Wales, being educated at Swansea Grammar School. She qualified as a doctor in London at King's College and St George's Hospital Medical School. Following Graduation in 1976, she worked at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Bournemouth where she commenced her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, completing it at The Royal Cornwall Hospital and Derrifiord Hopital in Plymouth.

Her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology included all aspects of the specialty but with special interests in Urogynaecology (in particular the management of stress incontinence after pregnancy) and Hormone Replacement Therapy. She is also an instructor in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.

Prior to coming to Guernsey she was a Consultant at Derriford Hospital and undertook a number of research projects whilst working there.

She became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1989, is on the Specialist Register of the GMC and a Member of the Faculty of Family Planning, the British Menopause Society, the British Colposcopy society and the International Association of Urogynaecologists.

She is the only female specialist in this field in Guernsey and the first female Consultant appointment to the Medical Specialist Group.

Her husband, Dr Whitford Andrews, is a local GP and her two teenage children live in England. Her interests away from work include walking and swimming.
